WHAT: 2-Alarm apartment fire.
WHEN: September 10, 2023, at 11:49 p.m.
WHERE: 10500 block of Huff Dr., 77031.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $230,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $420,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Under investigation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes to find a fire in the attic of an apartment building. They made an offensive attack and conducted a primary search. They ventilated the building, and the fire broke through, making the fire extremely hostile. Crews switched to a defensive attack and a second alarm was requested to help crews rotate through rehab due to the manpower needed to fully extinguish the fire. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. 100 personnel were dispatched to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 68, 82, 2, 15, 21, 28, 83, 10, 37, 51, 59, 60, 73, 76, 69, 8, 24, 57, 33, Rescue 10 and Rehab 8.
