Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 1220 Allen Genoa Road

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 1220 Allen Genoa Road about 10:15 p.m. on Saturday (January 27).

The suspect, Luis Lopez Pantoja, (H/m, 20), is charged with failure to stop and render aid involving death in the 339th State District Court and driving while intoxicated in Harris County Criminal Court #2.

The identity of the male victim, 61, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Klementich and Officer R. Romo reported:

Lopez Pantoja was driving a black Chevrolet Tahoe northbound on Allen Genoa Road and struck a gold Mitsubishi Mirage believed traveling southbound on Allen Genoa and making a left turn.  Lopez Pantoja then exited his vehicle, apparently attempted to grab identifying information from the glove box and then ran from the scene.

A witness to the crash pursued Lopez Pantoja on foot and detained him until a Pasadena police officer arrived.  The Pasadena officer detained Lopez Pantoja, returned him to the Allen Genoa location and released him to HPD officers who had arrived on scene.  Lopez Pantoja was determined to be intoxicated and was taken into custody.
