WHAT: House fire.
WHEN: March 18, 2024, at 5:45 p.m.
WHERE: 5000 block of Wiley Rd. 77016.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $152,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $50,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental (electrical).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes to find smoke coming from the eaves of a 1-story house and entered the front door to control the fire. The roof was ventilated, and a primary search was conducted. Crews pulled the ceiling to access the fire in the attic with fire also found in the walls and rooms. The fire was extinguished and HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. The American Red Cross was contacted for the residents. 45 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 15, 19, 34, 12, 30, 34, 39 and 56.
