House Fire in The Central Northwest Area

WHAT: House fire.

WHEN: July 27, 2024, at 2:37 p.m.

WHERE: 2200 block of Althea Dr. 77018.

INJURIES: No reported injuries.

PROPERTY SAVED: Not available.

DAMAGE: $200,000 in estimated damage.

CAUSE: HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental due to an electrical malfunction.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find fire in the attached garage of a 2-story house with smoke coming from the attic of the home. Smoke was also found inside the home. Crews conducted a primary search and began an attack on the fire. The garage door was removed to gain better access. The fire was contained to the garage with a golf cart heavily involved in the fire. A vehicle was also heavily damaged. Firefighters extinguished the fire and ventilated the home. CenterPoint was requested to secure the utilities. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. 37 personnel responded to this incident, including crews from Stations 50, 15, 4, 31, 13, 62, 38, 67, 15, 30 and Hazmat 66.
