2nd UPDATE: Investigation into Fatal Crash at 2000 Fannin Street

Houston police have learned an additional victim critically injured in a fatal crash at 2000 Fannin Street about 2 a.m. on Nov. 11. 2023 has died.

The identity of the deceased woman, 30, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Five men – Izuchu Oragwu, 31, Frank Johnson, 31, Zachary McMillian, 32, Derek Hayden, 33, and Christian Herrera, 25, and one woman, Lauren Robinson, 32, were also pronounced deceased in the crash.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Fendia and Officer T. Riley reported:

The investigation and evidence determined that Ms. Robinson was driving a black Acura SUV eastbound on Pierce Street with a green light at the intersection with Fannin Street.  A black Chrysler 300, driven by Christian Herrera, was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on Fannin Street when he ran the red light and struck the Acura.  The impact caused three persons in the Acura to be ejected.  The Chrysler left the roadway, went onto a sidewalk and struck Mr. Johnson, a pedestrian.

Both drivers were pronounced deceased at the scene.  Paramedics also pronounced Mr. Johnson and Mr. Oragwu deceased.  Mr. McMilllian and Mr. Hayden were later pronounced deceased at an area hospital.

Two other passengers in the Acura – a male, 32, and a female, 30, were transported to an area  hospital.  The man was in stable condition and was treated and released. The woman was in critical condition.  Doctors pronounced the female deceased on Monday (April 29).

At this time, it is not believed there were any passengers in the Chrysler.

The investigation is continuing.
