UPDATE: Suspect Charged, Wanted in Shooting at 2608 Vance Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the shooting of a man at 2608 Vance Street about 10:20 p.m. on July 29.

The suspect, Eugene Brimzy, Jr. (b/m, 53) is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 337th State District Court.  A prior booking photo of Brimzy, who is not in custody at this time, is attached to this news release.

The victim, Diandre Deboest, 41, was transported to an area hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening wounds.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers B. Salazar and B. Godoy reported:

Mr. Deboest and a male suspect were arguing in a vacant lot at the above address when the suspect pulled a gun from his waistband and shot Deboest in the torso and back.  The suspect then fled on foot on Vance Street.  Houston Fire Department paramedics transported Deboest to the hospital.

Further investigation identified Brimzy as the suspect in this case and he was subsequently charged last Saturday (August 8) for his role in this incident.
