UPDATE: Suspect Charged, Wanted in Fatal Shooting at 8801 Gustine Lane

Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 8801 Gustine Lane about 8:20 p.m. on May 28.

The suspect, Josue Daivid Celis-Maltes (H/m, 37), is charged with murder in the 179th State District Court.  He is accused in the killing of Jesus Castillo-Vasquez, 24, of the above address.

HPD Homicide Division Officers B. Roberts and D. Nabors reported:

Patrol officers were dispatched to a shooting call at 8800 Gustine Lane and found a male with an apparent gunshot wound to the face.  Paramedics transported him to a hospital for treatment.

Witnesses on the scene directed officers to a nearby apartment complex at 8801 Gustine Lane where officers located evidence indicating the wounding of the male originated in apartment #610.  Officers conducted a welfare check inside the apartment and located a man (Mr. Castillo-Vasquez) with an apparent gunshot wound.  Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Further investigation developed information that identified Celis-Maltes as the suspect in this case and he was subsequently charged.
