UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in February 2022 Shootings at 1300 Hadley Street & 1300 Webster Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of one man at 1300 Hadley Street and the wounding of another man at 1300 Webster Street about 9:10 p.m. on February 18, 2022.

The suspect, Emerson Hernandez, 25, is charged with capital murder and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in the 209th State District Court.  A booking photo of Hernandez is attached to this news release.

The deceased victim is identified as Adam Phillips, 50.  The second victim, Kevin Rogers, 40, survived his wounds.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives L. Patterson and N. Henderson reported:  HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at 1300 Webster Street and found Mr. Rogers with multiple gunshot wounds.  He was transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics to the hospital in critical condition. Minutes later, officers responded to a second shooting at 1300 Hadley and found Mr. Phillips shot multiple times.  HFD paramedics pronounced Phillips deceased.  A preliminary investigation and evidence from the scene indicated the two shootings were possibly committed by the same suspect who had attempted to rob the victims.  The suspect was described only as a white or Hispanic male, wearing all dark-colored clothing.  His jacket appeared to have a white or light-colored patch on the left arm.

Further investigation identified Hernandez as the shooter in both incidents.  Hernandez was in the Harris County Jail on an unrelated charge and was subsequently charged on Wednesday (Jan. 11) in the two shootings.
