Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a juvenile male at 3806 Faulkner Street about 1:55 p.m. on July 14.
Jarvis Rideaux, 17, is charged with capital murder in the 232nd State District Court. A booking photo of Rideaux is attached to this news release.
The deceased victim is identified as Josiah Kelly, 14.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives S. Chettry and E. Martinez reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at the above address and found the victim (Kelly) with a gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported Kelly to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
A preliminary investigation indicated Kelly and another male (Rideaux) were inside a bedroom of the residence handling a firearm when the weapon discharged. Kelly was struck by the gunfire. Rideaux fled the scene on foot prior to police arriving at the location.
Further investigation identified Rideaux as a suspect in this case and, last Friday (August 18), Rideaux was arrested and charged for his role in the shooting.
