The suspect, Jaime Salinas, 18 is charged with capital murder in the 177th State District Court. His booking photo is attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as Jaime Torres, 26.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives J. Brown and M. Condon reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a person down call on the service road at the above address. A witness stated he found the man unresponsive and lying in the grassy area along the service road. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the man, later identified as Mr. Torres, deceased.
A preliminary investigation indicated Torres, along with his two friends, was a customer at a nearby restaurant and, after being aggressive, was asked to leave by the manager. The man left the restaurant on foot and, a short time later, was found in the parking lot by the witness. According to the man’s friends, his vehicle, a black Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was missing from the parking lot.
At that time, there was no known suspect description.
Further investigation identified Salinas as the suspect in this case. Salinas was arrested on May 18 and subsequently charged for his role in the incident.
