UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in April Fatal Shooting at 11575 Bissonnet Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 11575 Bissonnet Street about 8:50 p.m. on April 28.  

The suspect, Dwaine Allen Davis (b/m, 30), is charged with murder in the 180th State District Court.  He is accused in the death of Edwin Lavon Alcorn, 28.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Dunn and Detective R. Naughton reported:

Mr. Alcorn and several other males were gathered in front of a convenience store at the above address.  Alcorn and a suspect, who possibly knew each other, were standing in the same group just prior to the shooting.  Alcorn turned his back and was shot by the suspect, who then fled the scene on foot.

Further investigation identified Dwaine Davis as the suspect in this case.  Davis was taken into custody on June 29 on an unrelated weapons charge and was subsequently charged for his role in this shooting.
