UPDATE: Persons of Interest Sought in Fatal Crash at 6352 Windswept Lane

Houston police are asking for the public’s help in identifying two persons of interest wanted for questioning in a fatal hit-and-run crash at 6352 Windswept Lane that occurred about 8:35 p.m. on August 25.

The persons of interest are described only as a Hispanic male and a Hispanic female.  A photo of the persons of interest, who have not been charged, is attached to this news release.

The male victim is identified as Domingo Lopez-Mienchu, 33.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer J. Johnson reported:

The driver of a silver Toyota Tundra pickup truck struck Mr. Lopez-Mienchu’s vehicle at Windswept and Unity Drive.  According to witnesses, Lopez-Mienchu got out of his vehicle and approached the suspect, who was sitting in the Toyota.  The two men began arguing and the suspect began to drive.  It is unclear if the suspect was holding Lopez-Mienchu or if Lopez-Mienchu was willingly holding onto the Toyota.  As the suspect drove eastbound on Windswept, he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a pole.  The Toyota landed on its side with Lopez-Mienchu beneath the truck.  Lopez-Mienchu was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The suspect, described only as a Hispanic male, fled the scene on foot eastbound on Windswept.

A photo of the suspect vehicle is also attached to this news release.

HPD Hit and Run Unit investigators would like to speak with the male and female in the photo to determine their knowledge or involvement in the crash.

Anyone with information on the identity of the persons of interest in the photo or whereabouts of the suspect is urged to contact the HPD Hit and Run Unit at 713-247-4072 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
