UPDATE: Man Sought in Fatal Shooting at 14802 Buxley Street Arrested

A man wanted for questioning in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 14802 Buxley Street about 1:10 p.m on December 24, 2019 has been arrested.  

Cedric Gee Mosley (b/m, 49), is charged with felony evading arrest and felon in possession of a weapon in the 248th State District Court.  Mosley was previously charged with felon in possession of a weapon in the same court.

A previous booking photo (June 2019) of Mosley, who remains hospitalized, is attached to this news release.

The victim, Derrick Fields, 43, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant S. Murdock and Detective T. Jackson reported:

About 12:30 p.m., Mr. Fields and Mosley were involved in an altercation at the above address.  Fields was wielding a metal pipe when Mosley produced a firearm and shot Fields multiple times.

Mosley then fled the scene on a black Honda VTX motorcycle.

On Tuesday (January 7), Cedric Gee Mosley was taken into custody after a brief pursuit on his motorcycle.  Mosley struck an HPD patrol vehicle while fleeing from police and suffered a broken leg.  He was taken into custody and transported to an area hospital.  At this time, Mosley has not been charged in Fields’ death, however the investigation is continuing.
