UPDATE: Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 800 Reid Street

Houston police have learned the identity of a woman fatally shot at 800 Reid Street about 6:55 a.m. on October 6.

The victim is identified as Cavanna Smith, 25.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Lopez and Detective N. Sharp reported:

Officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and found Ms. Smith lying in the roadway.  She had suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Witnesses stated they heard a verbal altercation between a male and female, followed by a gunshot.  A black male was then seen fleeing the area in a white, older model Ford or Chevrolet pickup truck.  The truck had a black colored front right quarter panel.
