UPDATE #2: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Man’s Death at 4750 Irvington Boulevard

Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a man found at 4750 Irvington Boulevard about 6:20 a.m. on June 27.

Luis Joaquin Cervantes (H/m, 19), is charged with capital murder in the 338th State District Court. A photo of Cervantes is attached to this news release.

The victim is identified as Joseph Luis Olguin, 24.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives W. Huff and J. Nguyen reported:

Houston Fire Department personnel responded to a trash fire behind a business at the above address and discovered the victim burned and deceased.

An investigator with the Harris County Institute of Forensic Science (HCIFS) arrived on the scene and initially believed the victim, later identified as Mr. Olguin, had suffered multiple stab wounds.

An autopsy revealed Olguin had been shot.

Further investigation identified Cervantes as a suspect in this case and, last Saturday (August 29), he was arrested and charged for his role in Olguin’s death.
