Three Suspects Arrested, Charged in Shooting Incident at 6425 Westheimer Road

Charges have been filed against three suspects arrested following an officer-involved shooting incident at 6425 Westheimer Road about 12:25 p.m. on Thursday (Feb. 2).The suspects are identified as John Nsenguwera, 18, Mohamed Rasheed Robinson, 17, and Mahamoudou Sylla, 18.  Nsenguwera is charged with aggravated assault against a peace officer in the 248th State District Court and Robinson and Sylla are charged with robbery by threats in the 179th State District Court. Nsenguwera was wounded in the incident and was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.HPD Officer R. Aguilar, who discharged his duty weapon, was not injured.  He was sworn in as an officer in April 2016 and is assigned to the Midwest Patrol Division.HPD Special Investigations Unit Sergeant J. Hekimian and Detectives N. Arrelano, W. Elliott and V. Nguyen reported:Officers observed a robbery in-progress with a suspect shooting at another individual at an apartment complex at the above address.  When officers converged on the suspects, one suspect (Nsenguwera) pointed a gun at an officer.  At that time, the officer discharged his weapon, striking the suspect one time.  Paramedics transported the suspect to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.A second suspect (Robinson) was arrested at the scene.  The third suspect (Sylla) fled on foot and was later arrested in a school at 6529 Beverly Hill Street.As is customary in officer-involved shooting incidents, the incident is being investigated by the HPD Special Investigations Unit, the Internal Affairs Division and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.JFC/SOA         2-3-23Inc #016167623
