Suspect Charged, Wanted in Shooting Incident at 6419 Wilshire Lakes

Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the shooting of a man at 6419 Wilshire Lakes about 8:50 p.m. on Saturday (Feb. 9).

The suspect, Dietrich Thomas (b/m, 22), is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 185th State District Court for his role in the shooting of Johnathan Carter, 30.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers G. Black and C. Bowling reported:

Officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and found Mr. Carter lying on the ground.  He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

Witnesses stated Carter was attending a family gathering with his child’s mother when Thomas arrived and pulled a handgun.  Thomas began shooting at Carter and chased him down the street as he was firing the weapon.  Carter was struck in the right arm and right knee.  After the shooting, Thomas left the scene in a white Dodge Charger.  Paramedics transported Carter to an area hospital where he underwent surgery.
