Suspect Charged, Wanted in Shooting at 4933 Chennault Road

Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the shooting of a man at 4933 Chennault Road about 10 a.m. on Tuesday (June 29).

The suspect, Rondell Darrell Allen (b/m, 28), is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and felon in possession of a weapon in the 178th State District Court.  A 2020 booking photo of Allen, who is not in custody, is attached to this news release.

The victim, Marcus Allen, 30, was transported to an area hospital to be treated for non-life threatening wounds.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives S. De La Cruz and T. Johnson reported:

A family member was at the residence at the above address when he heard loud gunshots coming from Mr. Marcus Allen’s room.  The family member stated he went into the hallway and saw Rondell Allen armed with a gun and leaving the hallway area near his brother Marcus’ room.  The family member stated he chased suspect Allen outside of the residence and the suspect pointed the firearm at him, but the gun jammed.  The family member ran back inside the residence to avoid being shot.  He checked on Marcus Allen and observed he had been shot in the buttocks and left leg.  Suspect Rondell Allen fled the scene on foot.
