Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the stabbing of a man at 7936 Canal Street about 9:55 p.m. on Thursday (June 13).

The suspect, Catherina Calderon (H/f, 54), is charged with two counts of aggravated assault of a family member in the 183rd State District Court.  She is accused in the stabbing of Enrique Deluna, 60, who was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

A booking photo of Calderon is not available for release at this time.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers V. Habukiha and S. Ragsdale reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a cutting at the above address and determined Mr. Deluna and Calderon had gotten into a verbal altercation, which resulted in Calderon wanting to stab Deluna’s 14-year-old son.  As Deluna attempted to protect his son, Calderon stabbed him in the back.  Houston Fire Department paramedics transported Deluna to the hospital.  Calderon was taken into custody and subsequently charged in this case.
