Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting Incident at 1000 Main Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a man that occurred at 1000 Main Street about 10:30 p.m. on Sunday (June 9).

The suspect, Porfirio Salazar (H/m, 29), is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 337th State District Court.  A current booking photo of Salazar is not available.

The victim, 29, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives L. Kauffman and C. Bowling reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call and found both the victim and suspect had been shot.  Based upon evidence obtained and witness statements, investigators determined Salazar shot the victim during an altercation.  During the struggle, Salazar was disarmed.  A third unknown individual then picked up the gun and shot Salazar.

Both Salazar and the victim were transported to area hospitals in stable condition.
