Suspect Arrested, Charged in Man’s Death at 1714 Wirt Road

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the death of a man at 1714 Wirt Road that occurred about 12:50 p.m. on September 29.

The suspect, Corbin Malcom Dockens (w/m, 30), is charged with murder in the 180th State District Court.  A booking photo of Dockens is attached to this news release.

He is accused in the death of Jose Alejandro Amaya Urrutia, 42.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants M. Brady and M. Casso reported:

HPD officers responded to the above address regarding a man who told family members he had killed his roommate.  Officers arrived and met with Dockens, who allowed officers to enter his apartment where Mr. Amaya Urrutia was found deceased in an upstairs bedroom.

An autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences determined Amaya Urrutia’s cause of death to be strangulation.  Further investigation indicated Amaya Urrutia and Dockens had lived together for about 10 years and had a prior dating relationship.

On October 2, Dockens was arrested on an unrelated narcotics warrant.  Subsequent investigation confirmed Dockens’ involvement in Amaya Urrutia’s death and, on Wednesday (October 6), a murder charge was filed.
