HPD Homicide Division Detectives D. Crowder and A. Vinogradov reported:

HPD patrol officers and Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to a report of a person down at a park at the above address.  Upon arrival, they found a deceased person in the field and a possible suspect who had returned to the scene.  While officers were at the scene, another possible suspect turned himself in to police at the HPD Southwest Patrol Station.

Further investigation and interviews with both possible suspects and witnesses led to the identification of McCarthy as the suspect in this case.  Detectives determined McCarthy had struck the victim several times with a golf club, causing his death.  McCarthy was subsequently charged for his role in the incident.
