Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Stabbing at 2130 State Highway 6 South

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a man at 2130 State Highway 6 South about 12:10 a.m. today (June 14).

The suspect, Letoia Monique Steward (b/f, 39), is charged with murder in the 248th State District Court.  A  booking photo of Steward is attached to this news release.

The victim, 35, was transported to Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Ferrell and J. Escobar reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to an assault call at a hotel at the above address.  Upon arrival, they found the victim lying in the walkway in front of room #306 suffering from a stab wound to the chest.  The suspect, Steward, was detained at the scene.  She told officers the victim was her boyfriend and they shared the same room.

Witnesses stated there was a disturbance between the victim and Steward prior to the arrival of police.

Steward was subsequently questioned and charged in this case.
