Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 826 Marcolin Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of another that occurred at 826 Marcolin Street about 8 p.m. on Friday (June 10).

The male suspect, Fitzgerald Campbell, 55, is charged with murder and aggravated assault of a family member in the 209th State District Court. A booking photo of Campbell is attached to this news release.

One victim, Steven Campbell, Sr., 53, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another victim, Steven Campbell, Jr., 30, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives K. Amri and K. Hale reported:

HPD patrol officers and Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to a shooting call at the above address. Upon arrival, they found Mr. Campbell, Sr. suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the head. He was subsequently pronounced deceased. Mr. Campbell, Jr. suffered a gunshot wound to the buttocks and was transported to an area hospital.

Further investigation determined the suspect, Fitzgerald Campbell, was angry and walking in the area with a firearm. When he saw his nephew, Campbell, Jr., he shot him. Fitzgerald Campbell then saw his brother, Campbell, Sr., and and shot him as well.

Fitzgerald Campbell was arrested near the scene and charged in this case.

At this time the department does not believe there is a continuous threat to the general public.
