Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 218 East 44th Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 218 East 44th Street about 10 a.m. on Monday (March 18).  

The suspect, Andre Demond Williams (b/m, 43), is charged with murder in the 179th State District Court.  He is accused in the killing of Carl Gray, 35, who was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives N. Sharp and G. Sullivan reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and found Mr. Gray had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest.  He was transported by paramedics to the hospital.

Further investigation and witness statements determined Gray and a male suspect (Williams) got into a physical altercation during which Williams produced a gun and shot Gray.  Williams was seen fleeing the scene prior to officers' arrival.  He was later taken into custody at a nearby location and subsequently charged for his role in Gray's death.
