Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 19301 Hightower Lane about 2 a.m. on Saturday (Sept. 12).
The suspect, Tyshi Gerard Banks (b/m, 35), is charged with murder in the 248th State District Court for his role in the killing of Steve Leon Donald, 53, of the above address. A booking photo of Banks is attached to this news release.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives W. Huff and J. Nguyen reported:
Officers were dispatched to a shooting call at the apartment complex at the above address and were advised that paramedics had pronounced the victim deceased due to multiple gunshot wounds.
A witness told detectives Mr. Donald was shot by a known suspect who fled the scene on foot before officers arrived. Some time later, the suspect (Banks) was then observed near the scene and he was detained. A witness identified Banks as the shooter. During a statement, Banks admitted to his role in the shooting and he was subsequently charged in the case.
