Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 9200 Bellaire Boulevard

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 9200 Bellaire Boulevard about 3:40 a.m. on Sunday (May 22).

The suspect, Luis Alejandro Avalos Avila, 22, is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 339th State District Court.  A booking photo of Alejandro is attached to this news release.

The identity of the female victim, 30, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Dunn and Officer J. Roberson reported:

Alejandro was driving a red GMC Yukon westbound near the above address and failed to yield the right-of-way at the intersection of Ranchester Drive.  The Yukon then struck a black Ford Explorer traveling southbound on Ranchester Drive as it attempted to make a left turn onto Bellaire Boulevard.  The female driver of the Explorer was pronounced deceased by paramedics.

Alejandro was determined to be impaired and arrested at the scene. he was subsequently charged for his role in the crash.
