HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant T. Fendia and Officer O. Bledsoe reported:

A Harris County Precinct 5 deputy constable was on patrol in a marked patrol vehicle near the above address and saw a black Ford Fusion, driven by Brown, traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Eldridge Parkway.  The deputy activated his emergency equipment and initiated a vehicle pursuit.  The driver refused to stop and evaded the deputy on Eldridge Parkway.

Brown then ran the red light at the intersection of the Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) and struck a white Lexus Rx350 turning left onto the service road.  The passenger (victim) in the Fusion was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  The female driver, 60, of the Lexus sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from Ben Taub General Hospital.

Brown was transported to Ben Taub Hospital with minor injuries and subsequently charged.  Narcotics (marijuana) and two pistols, one of which was reported stolen, were recovered from Brown’s vehicle.
