Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 7200 South Gessner Road

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 7200 South Gessner Road about 7:10 p.m. last Friday (Dec. 24).

The suspect, Alessio Leonardo Bevinetto (H/m, 20), is charged with two counts of failure to stop and render aid in an accident involving death in the 183rd State District Court.  A booking photo of Bevinetto is attached to this news release.

The identities of the two deceased victims – a male, 60, and female, 59 – are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths reported:

The victims were in a green Toyota Camry traveling eastbound on Neff Street.  As the vehicle left a stop sign to cross South Gessner Road, it was struck by a silver Chevrolet Silverado traveling southbound on South Gessner.  The driver of the Chevrolet fled the scene on foot.  Paramedics pronounced the two victims in the Toyota deceased at the scene.

Evidence at the scene indicated the Chevrolet driver was traveling at excessive speed.  The suspect, identified as Bevinetto, was taken into custody several hours later without further incident.  He was subsequently charged for his role in the crash.
