Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 2300 South Loop West

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 2300 South Loop West (South Interstate Highway 610 West) service road about 5:45 p.m. on Saturday (July 16).

The suspect, Kenneth Jarrod Williams, 45, is charged with felony murder in the 182nd State District Court.  A booking photo of Williams is attached to this news release.

The identity of the victim, 76, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Clark and Officer D. Ortega reported:

A black Infinity EX35 had the green light and was making a left turn from Kirby Drive to the westbound service road near the above address and struck a black Honda Pilot traveling westbound on the service road.  A preliminary investigation indicated the Pilot ran the red light.

The driver of the Infinity died at the scene from injuries sustained during the crash.  Two juvenile passengers in the Pilot were transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.  The driver of the Pilot, later identified as Williams, remained at the scene and was evaluated by HPD officers.  Williams was determined to be intoxicated and subsequently charged for his role in the crash.
