Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 17800 Space Center Boulevard

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 17800 Space Center Boulevard at about 7:50 p.m. on Thursday (May 10).

The suspect, Casey G. Goodwin (w/m, 20), is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 182nd State District Court.  A booking photo of Goodwin, in serous condition at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center, is not available at this time.

Goodwin is accused in the death of his male passenger, 21, who was also transported to Clear Lake Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.  The victim’s identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Fendia and Officer D. Hendley reported:

Goodwin was driving a maroon Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck northbound at the above address when he approached a curve in the roadway too fast and lost control of the vehicle.  He crossed into the southbound lanes before leaving the roadway.  The truck then went airborne and began to spin, ejecting both Goodwin and his passenger from the vehicle.  Paramedics arrived and transported both men to the hospital.

Witnesses reported that Goodwin was driving recklessly and at a high rate of speed prior to the crash and had been involved in a previous minor crash, from which he fled the scene.
