Suspect Arrested, Charged in Assault at 7900 Flaxman Street
Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the assault of a man at 7900 Flaxman Street about 5:35 p.m. on Sunday (August 11).

The suspect, Rudy Rodriguez (H/m, 32), is charged with aggravated assault-serious bodily injury in the 184th State District Court.  A booking photo of Rodriguez is attached to this news release.

The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives R. Moss and E. May reported:

HPD patrol officers in the area of the Siro T. Gutierrez park at the above address noticed an occupied vehicle illegally parked on a basketball court inside the park grounds.  As officers approached the vehicle, they saw the victim collapse to the ground.  Officers immediately attempted to provide assistance but found the victim unresponsive and called Houston Fire  Department paramedics who pronounced the male deceased.  Two persons inside the vehicle were detained for questioning.

Further investigation determined the victim and Rodriguez had gotten into a physical altercation immediately prior to officers’ arrival.  Rodriguez was taken into custody and charged for his role in the incident.  The other occupant was questioned and released.

The investigation is continuing.
