One Suspect Arrested, Others Sought in Fatal Shooting at 8400 Broadway Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of two men at 8400 Broadway Street that occurred about 12:20 p.m. on Thursday (April 15).

The suspect, Mildred Ladell Meldon (b/f, 22), is charged with capital murder in the 174th State District Court. A booking photo of Meldon is attached to this news release.

She is accused for her role in the deaths of London Mikhail Evans, 23 and Trence Thomas, 33.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Cegielski and Detective W. Gilbert reported:

Messrs. Evans and Thomas were driving their maroon sedan in the apartment complex parking lot at the above address when four suspect vehicles aggressively blocked their way. The suspects exited their vehicles armed with firearms, surrounded Evans and Thomas’ vehicle and fired multiple shots at the vehicle. Both men were struck by the gunfire while sitting in their vehicle and were pronounced deceased at the scene. The suspects fled in multiple vehicles.

Further investigation and evidence helped responding HPD officers locate one of the possible vehicles, a black Chrysler 300 with no license plates, near the shooting scene. The driver, suspect Meldron, was found to have an open warrant and was detained for questioning. She admitted to investigators her involvement in the shooting and was subsequently charged for her role. Multiple additional unidentified suspects remain at-large.
