A man critically injured in an auto-pedestrian crash that occurred at 1300 Lorraine about 12:30 a.m. on March 26, 2018, has died.
Richard Gutierrez, 60, a pedestrian, was pronounced deceased at Ben Taub General Hospital on Monday (May 21).
The driver, Gabriela Garza (H/f, 22), was arrested at the scene of the crash on March 26 and was charged with driving while intoxicated in Harris County Criminal Court #3. A photo of Garza is attached to this news release.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Fendia and Officer L. Vieira reported:
Garza was driving a silver Chevrolet C1500 pickup truck eastbound on Lorraine when she struck a light pole and also Mr. Gutierrez, who was standing in the area. Garza was found to be intoxicated at the scene and subsequently arrested and charged.
The investigation is continuing.
