Houston police are awaiting autopsy results of a woman found fatally shot at 1700 Utah Street about 8:15 p.m. on Thursday (Oct. 22).
The identity of the victim, 32, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Burrow and Detective M. Estep reported:
Patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the residence at the above address and found the female inside the home. She had suffered a gunshot wound. The individual who called police attempted life saving measures before officers and paramedics arrived to continue CPR efforts. The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.
During the course of the investigation, detectives ruled out homicide as the cause of death. An autopsy will be conducted by the Harris County Institute of the Forensic Sciences.
