Investigation into Man’s Death at 2400 block of Loyanne Drive

Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a man in the 2400 block of Loyanne Drive about 4:25 p.m. on Tuesday (March 24).

The victim is identified as Charles W. Benjamin, 44.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives L. Lange and C. Lamont reported:

At about 7 p.m. on November 19, 2019, Mr. Benjamin was seen in an altercation with an unknown male.  Approximately two hours later, Benjamin’s family members found him unresponsive in an apartment complex parking lot at 131 Aldine Bender Road.  HFD paramedics transported Benjamin to an area hospital.

On November 21, family members reported the injuries to police and the HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division initiated an investigation into the incident.

Benjamin underwent medical procedures and was hospitalized for nearly two months.

On Tuesday (March 24), the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office notified the HPD Homicide Division that Benjamin had died in his north Harris County home on Loyanne Drive.

The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences will conduct an autopsy to determine Benjamin’s cause of death and whether it was related to the November 19 incident.
