The fatal shooting of a man at 8955 Broadway Street about 2:50 p.m. on Wednesday (Dec. 7) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The identity of the deceased male, 43, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Smith and Detective M. Estep reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at an apartment complex at the above address and found the male suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.
Further investigation revealed the male forcibly gained entry into an apartment occupied by multiple adult females and one child. One of the females retrieved a firearm and shot the male.
After consulting with members of the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, it was determined the incident would be referred to a grand jury for review.
At this time, the department does not believe there is a continuous threat to the general public.
