Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 5901 Selinsky Road

The fatal shooting of a man at 5901 Selinsky Road about 8:10 a.m. last Friday (April 22) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.  

The identity of the victim, 33, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The male shooter was not injured in the incident.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives P. Pak and J. Wallschlaeger reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at an apartment complex at the above address and learned Houston Fire department paramedics had transported the wounded male to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

A preliminary investigation determined the male had been assaulting his girlfriend inside a bedroom before another male intervened and shot him.  Further investigation and witness statements determined the deceased male had reached for a gun prior to the shooting.

No charges were accepted in the incident, which will be reviewed by a Harris County grand jury.
