Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 4200 Knotty Oaks Trail

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in an incident that resulted in the fatal shooting of a male at 4200 Knotty Oaks Trail about 1 p.m. on November 22.

The suspect, Jesus Mendez, 33, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and felon in possession of a weapon in the 185th State District Court.  A booking photo of Mendez is attached to this news release.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives R. Rivera and D. Hobson reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at a residence at the above address and discovered a male lying in the back yard.  He had been shot multiple times.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased.

HPD SWAT officers executed a search warrant at the residence and detained a male suspect, later identified as Mendez, believed to be involved in the shooting.  After consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, Mendez was charged with multiple felonies.

The fatal shooting will be referred to a Harris County grand jury for review.

The investigation is continuing.
