| Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a woman and apparent suicide of a man at 2602 Westerland Drive about 1:20 a.m. today (December 23).
The female victim, Itzell Sanchez, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene . The identity of the male suspect, 21, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Horn and Detective S. Overstreet reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a report of a person down at the above address and found Ms. Sanchez lying on the ground near the passenger side of a black Ford Mustang. She had suffered a gunshot wound. A male was found in the driver’s seat of the Mustang with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and a gun in his lap.
Witnesses reported hearing the woman’s voice and then gunshots.
