Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a woman at 12347 Fondren Road about 5:15 p.m. on Saturday (Aug. 8).
The identity of the victim, 26, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant E. Attebury and Officer C. Arrington reported:
Patrol officers were dispatched to a drive-by shooting call at a business parking lot at 12347 Fondren Road. Officers found several empty bullet casings, but did not locate any persons at the scene.
Officers were alerted to a scene nearby at 12000 Sandpiper Drive where a red Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) had crashed. The female driver was found with gunshot wounds. Paramedics transported her to an area hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
At this time, the suspect is described only as a black male driving a gray, two-door coupe.
