Investigation into Fatal Crash at 9600 Beechnut Street

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 9600 Beechnut Street about 9:40 p.m. last Friday (May 13).

The identity of the deceased male, 36, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P Pham and Officer T Smith reported:

The male, a pedestrian, attempted to cross the roadway – not in a crosswalk – at the above address when he was struck by a gray Chevrolet Tahoe traveling eastbound.  Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the man to an area hospital where doctors pronounced him deceased on Saturday (May 14).

The male driver and a passenger in the Chevrolet were not injured.  The driver was questioned, determined not to be impaired and released.

The investigation is continuing.
