Houston police are investigating the fatal crash following a Harris County Precinct One pursuit that ended at 8100 North Loop East (North Interstate Highway 610) about 1:40 a.m. on Saturday (Nov. 26).
The identity of the deceased female is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Le and Officer Z. Radcliffe reported:
Harris County Precinct One deputy constables were in a vehicle pursuit with the driver of a grey Honda Civic driving southbound in the northbound lanes of the Hardy Toll Road. The deputies drove parallel with the wrong way vehicle in the correct lane with emergency equipment activated. The Civic continued to drive the wrong way eastbound in the westbound lanes of the North Loop. The driver of the Civic then struck a Chevrolet Tahoe head-on.
The driver of the Civic was pronounced dead at the scene. Paramedics transported the male driver of the Tahoe to Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
No other vehicles or persons were injured in this crash. The investigation is continuing.
