Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 7000 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) about 3:55 p.m. on Wednesday (March 22).
The identity of the deceased male, 61, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Jewell and Officer D. Jones reported:
The deceased male was riding a bicycle while crossing the freeway from east to west at the above address. He failed to yield the right of way and was struck by a silver Hyundai Tucson traveling northbound. The male was ejected from the bicycle. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.
The driver of the truck was determined not to be impaired and was questioned and released.
The investigation is continuing.
