Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred 610 Sunnyside about 4:05 a.m. today (January 31).
The identity of the female suspect, 21, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Hall reported:
An HPD North Patrol Division sergeant attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the suspect after witnessing her run a red light at the intersection of Parker Road and the North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45). The suspect fled at a high rate of speed and drove across a raised intersection, lost control and struck a concrete wall in the 600 block of Sunnyside. She was transported to HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
There were no other occupants or vehicles involved in this crash.
As is customary when a motorist dies in the presence of HPD officers in the Houston city limits, this case is being investigating by the Houston Police Vehicular Crimes and the Internal Affairs Divisions.
