Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 5300 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) about 3:45 a.m. today (March 16).
The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer P. Best reported:
A white Mack tractor-trailer truck was traveling westbound on the main lanes of the East Freeway near the above address when the vehicle struck a male in the main lanes. The male was then struck by a second vehicle, a gray Dodge Challenger, also traveling westbound on the freeway. The drivers of both vehicles stopped and remained at the scene.
Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased. The drivers of the 18-wheeler and the Dodge were determined not to be impaired and were questioned and released.
The investigation is continuing.
