Investigation into Fatal Crash at 4500 Southwest Freeway

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 4500 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) about 3:10 a.m. on Saturday (November 20).

The identity of the female victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Pham and Officer J. Johnson reported:

A blue Mitsubishi Lancer was traveling southbound near the above address, possibly experienced mechanical issues and stopped in a moving lane of traffic.  The Mitsubishi was then struck in the rear by a gray Toyota Tundra pickup truck.

The victim, a back seat passenger in the Mitsubishi, was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The Mitsubishi’s male driver, 50, was transported by paramedics to an area hospital with broken ribs.  The male driver, 30, of the Toyota remained at the scene and was not injured.  He was evaluated and determined not to be impaired.

No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
