Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 3800 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) about 12:05 a.m. on Sunday (Oct. 17).
The identity of the male victim, 77, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer S. Bouarar reported:
A red Nissan pickup truck was disabled and blocking two southbound lanes of the freeway at the above address. The driver (victim) was standing outside the vehicle with its door opened when a black GMC Sierra pickup truck struck the door and the victim. The driver of the GMC stopped. Paramedics pronounced the victim deceased.
The male driver, 51, of the GMC was evaluated and consented to a blood draw. He was questioned and released.
The investigation is continuing.
