Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 15800 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) about 9:45 a.m. today (May 15).
The identity of the female victim, 68, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Hall and Senior Police Officer R. Saenz reported:
The victim was driving a red Ford Escape eastbound (inbound) at the above address when her vehicle was struck from behind by a heavy duty wrecker truck. The Ford then swerved left and right and struck a black Acura two different times. The victim was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the wrecker was at-fault and told investigators he looked away just prior to crashing into the Ford. No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation is continuing.
