Investigation into Fatal Crash at 11000 Gulf Freeway

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 11000 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) service road about 11 a.m. today (May 10).

The identity of the male victim, 29, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Lopez and Officer D. Ashford reported:

The victim and the driver of a green Jeep Liberty got into a domestic disturbance in which the victim damaged the window of the Jeep.  Both persons then drove to a glass repair shop at the above address to get the window fixed.

As the victim exited the Jeep and walked inside the business, the driver of the Jeep began leaving the location.  The victim then grabbed onto the Jeep and held on as the driver slowly drove southbound on the Gulf Freeway service road.  He then let go and began running behind the Jeep and was struck by a gray Nissan Altima traveling southbound on the Gulf Freeway service road.  Paramedics transported the victim to Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  The driver of the Nissan, who remained at the scene, was questioned and released.

No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
